Sunrise view of Boston from Peter's Hill on Monday Morning |
I used to be able to walk a 5K every morning in 45 minutes when I lived in NoHo, played Ingress, and was maintaining my weight between 160-170lbs (ish). After a … conversation over the weekend and much nagging, I have been taking Pluto out with me. Zoe doesn’t do cold and she doesn’t walk as fast as she did 3-5 years ago.
Monday: I was determined to find a 5K route that would also be a bit of a workout and avoid traffic. I opted to up the difficulty and go for elevation and a new route instead of lapping around the block 3 or 4 times. We went up to Peter’s Hill and I got a gorgeous view of the sun hitting the city. Google did the auto pano thing, so that worked out.
Tuesday: Ugh. Just ugh. Woke up later than usual, decided to take Pluto for a 20-30 minute walk instead of going the distance. Google Fit says my morning walk was 32 minutes and 1.35 miles. Jiminy cricket. I am so freaking slow.
Wednesday: No dice. Was still sore and exhausted from the evening at Fenway.
I didn't even hit 4000 steps for the day.

Pull on pants, hoodie, socks over my jeans (welcome to the 80s), winter jacket, gloves, hat, dog.
The view was worth it.

Sunrise, straight out of my Pixel 2XL |
I admired the view and took a few more shots and then walked the Peter's Hill path to try and get some decent mileage along with the endurance hilly part of the walk. Got home hot and sweaty despite the legit freezing temp outside.
Today's total was 2.55 miles in 56 minutes. Still slow (I'm aiming for 3.5 miles in an hour or less). It's going to take a lot of practice to get me back to my old speed.
