Meeting the Cast of Disney's Prom at Macy's

April 24, 2011
Happy Birthday!
I try to make my kid's birthdays memorable. It gets harder as they get older. My son simply asks for money now. My daughter, I can still surprise and impress.

Last night we attended the PROM cast signing at Macy's in the Glendale Galleria.

At the signing event, Macy’s shoppers can make a girl’s prom dream come true by donating their gently worn prom or formal dresses, which will be given to LA’s Prom Closet, a local DonateMyDress.org chapter.
We waited patiently in line. I was impressed that my daughter didn't fuss or complain even though it was past dinner time and the line started out moving slowly. Like everyone else, she wanted to get up close to the stars.

We were pretty much in the middle and heard that girls had been lining up since 3PM. That's fan dedication for you. The smarter parents hung out above us watching the commotion below.

What made the day really special though, was as soon as we made it up, my daughter whispered that it was her birthday (it was!) and each cast member wished her a "Happy Birthday!" Aimee Teegarden completely made the night by pulling out a giant pixie stick for her!

In her opinion, Nolan was voted the cutest (because he looks like Sterling Knight) and she didn't have a real opinion about everyone else. I think she was a little overwhelmed and maybe a little disappointed to not have had a chance to talk with them more. I have a feeling I know exactly where I will be next Friday night.

ABOUT DISNEY’S “PROM”
At “Prom,” every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite.  For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.”
Produced by Justin Springer and Ted Griffin, directed by Joe Nussbaum and written by Katie Wech, Walt Disney Pictures’ “Prom,” featuring an emerging ensemble cast and powerful soundtrack, hits theaters April 29, 2011.

  2. Thanks! It opens tomorrow and she hasn't asked to see it yet. I think because she's been on TV punishment we have a case of "out of sight, out of mind".
