Mamavation Monday: Maintaining and Wellness

Mamavation
I think I will be taking a break from Mamavation for this month. I was happy to step on the scale this morning and see that I had maintained for the week despite a heavy dinner on "Date night" at Claim Jumper (leftovers!) on Saturday night. It must have been balanced by all the packing I did during the day .
I'm just super stressed and frustrated, I see women dropping pounds like hot potatoes and I can't seem to lose more than five. There is a lot going on in my life that is probably deterring my weight loss, so I'm going to work on those issues over the next month. I'll still be watching my calorie intake, The Hunk has taken over my breakfast, lunch and dinner choices for the month. Which is fine because he's eating the same things I am. I can't wait to have more time to cook again!

I haven't had much motivation to hit the gym, and I know that the weeks I have posted weight loss are the ones where I do make it in 3x/week, but the energy just isn't there. That's one of my set backs. I currently look like a raccoon due to lack of good, restful sleep. Having a bad episode of PMDD really threw me off too. I just don't bounce back like I used to.

In the meantime, I have started Jillian Michael's 21-Day Jump Start Cleanse and Burn (from Costco - an impulse buy). The one thing lost is my desire for coffee. I guess there's enough caffeine and caffeine-like ingredients to get me through the morning and afternoon. So far, no "surprising" side effects. There was no way I was going to try the Master Cleanse, and I missed the twitter party on Cinch, so I have no idea what it's about.

I'm also working with a counselor to get through some of the other things that are holding me back. I'm trying my hardest to not go back on Zoloft or any other anxiety drug.

Question: What does “wellness” mean to you?
Having gone to a chiropractor all of my adult life, I am well aware of what "wellness" means. My chiropractors have tried to drill it into me for years. I get the concept, but am lousy on the implementation.

To me, personally, it's a balance between mind, body, and spirit, leading to an overall attitude of well-being. It's more than just an absence of illness. It's feeling good about yourself in all areas of your life. It's your body being able to do the things you need it to do without being in pain. I joined Mamavation in the hopes of gaining back some of that balance.

  1. I think you just have to keep with it. Dieting and weight loss is extremely frustrating for many of us and it is keeping focused that is the problem.

  2. *hugs* I hope you're able to find that energy and extra to help push you through this tough time. --Don't give up; take it one day at a time, hun. You'll see the lost poundage soon enough.
