Saturday, March 15 Catherine Creek & Klickitat Trail, WA Two Easy walks: 1 mile & 4 miles, no elev. gainJoin native plant expert Barbara Robinson for a walk on the lower Catherine Creek trail to enjoy a spectacular wildflower show. After lunch, drive a short distance to Lyle and walk along the Klickitat River to Fisher Bridge and back. First Meeting Place: Depart 7:30 AM from Gateway Second Meeting Place: 9:30 AM at Catherine Creek Trailhead. (Take I-84 east to Exit 64, Hood River; cross Hood River Bridge and turn right on WA SR-14. Continue 5.8 miles, turn left on Old Hwy 8; and continue 1 mile to trailhead.) Sunday, March 16 Historic Columbia River Highway Geology Auto Tour, OR Easy: Several short walks, little to no elev. gain Tour the Historic Columbia River Highway with Friends leader Jim Denton. Tour will focus on locations noted in Ira Williams' book, The Columbia River Gorge, Its Geologic History Interpreted From the Columbia River Highway, between Troutdale and Hood River. Members Only.
