You know how I love podcasts, right? And you know how I love Firefly, right? Well, I was perusing The Signal and they have a link to a site called Badger Books and it's like WOW! Go check it out.

MRI update

Migraine bad MRI not so bad (what House leaves out is that MRI machines are loud!) – good thing I am not claustrophobic. I almost fell asleep. Naps good. Vicodin good Coffee good BUT MY HEAD STILL HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =========================================================== And a co-worker just gave me mini-acupuncture and it worked … for a little bit. Stress is NOT good.

Baen Free Library

I wish I had known about this a while ago!! My library fines might be A LOT less Introducing the Baen Free Library by Eric Flint Baen Books is now making available — for free — a number of its titles in electronic format. We're calling it the Baen Free Library. Anyone who wishes can read these titles online — no conditions, no strings attached. (Later we may ask for an extremely simple, name & email only, registration. ) Or, if you prefer, you can download the books in one of several formats. Again, with no conditions or strings attached. (URLs to sites which offer the readers for these format are also listed. ) Why are we doing this? Well, for two reasons. The first is what you might call a "matter of principle." This all started as a byproduct of an online "virtual brawl" I got into with a number of people, some of them professional SF authors, over the issue of online piracy of copyrighted works and what to do about it. There was a school of thought, whi

A great way to spend the day hearing about 3D televisions and space travel. We recommend 'X-Minus One', 'Exploring Tomorrow', 'British Sci-Fi', 'Dimension X' and 'SF 68' for starters.

this bites

I started the day out with a 24oz Pepsi (who needs coffee when you have Pepsi?) and then a co-worker gave me migraine medicine (which my doc tells me is basically aspirin+caffeine), then i had a Barq's root beer and I think I probably had more Pepsi somewhere along the way ... and 2 glasses of water at dinner ... and then I took a Vicodin and ... no headache, but neither am I tired!!! My hands are freezing, contributing to typos galore, but alas, it is not a sign of sleepiness :( So, I think I just need to brush my teeth, take out my contacts, and lay my little @$$ down to sleep. Though it could be that I don;t have to be at work first thing in the morning. My MRI is at 8:15 ... and Tim just offered to go with me. Ok, off to bed. Good Night all.

The Results - Part I

So, apparently a 4 day headache with no previous history of migraines in my immediate family or myself warrants an MRI. Or she could have sent me to the ER for a CAT scan, that would basically tell me if I was in immediate danger of dying or not. (After the last ER visit I am SO glad that she didn't). So I get an MRI tomorrow morning and had bloodwork done today. With my luck my bloodwork will come back normal and the MRI will reaveal (drumroll please) NOTHING. Though Tim did confirm that I grind my teeth in my sleep. So I get to make a dentist's appointment to get fitted with a mouth guard. At least it's not gingivitis ...

Excedrin Migraine+T3=relief

at least for the most part. Loud sounds still cause me to shy away in pain, but I can finally take my sunglasses off and the vice that has been around my head since Sunday seems to have gone away., I love my boss. She didn't think I was nuts for wearing sunglasses in the building and even gave me the Excedrin Migraine. I'm just sorry it took until about 3:30/4:00 before it kicked in(I took it at like 8 and headache did not get any better while at work), but I guess that makes sense ... phone ringing incessantly, bright lights, and people talking all around me. ... Going to the doctor tomorrow. I'm beginning to that think that even though I am on anti-anxiety meds, my stress level is higher than it has ever been before, I'm just not having a panic attack or mental breakdown. Migraines, receding gum line, hives, breakouts, and a back that won't stop hurting. And because my body is reacting to the stress, but not my mind ... it's a little confusing to say the least

Vicodin

...is very good for migraines. I am still sound sensitive and a little light sensitive, but I think I can function at work today. I will just be speaking very quietly and maybe wearing sunglasses inside.

How do Picasa Web Albums and Blogger work together?

I need to keep more on top of things. Blogger Buzz has this dated March 8. But boy am I glad they upped the storage!!! When you create a blog that contains photos using Blogger, a web album will be created in Picasa Web Albums. Any photos you upload using Blogger automatically appear in an unlisted album under “My Photos” with a small Blogger icon in the corner of the album cover. The title of your Blogger web album will match the title of that blog and contain those photos. If you re-title your blog, the web album title will not change. Once a photo is posted to Blogger from Picasa Web Albums, future comments or captions made on either site will not be synched with each other. We recommend that you add captions and comments in Picasa Web Albums before posting a photo to Blogger. If you delete a photo from Blogger it will also be deleted from Picasa Web Albums. Likewise, if you delete a photo from your Blogger album on Picasa Web Albums, the photo will also be deleted from your blog.

Migraine?

I've never had one before. But since last night light, sound, hurt!!! Light like stabs, even 40 watts. My headache won't go away. at first i thought it was allergies, but Allegra didn't help. Then i thought I was dehydrated, but that didn't help. By 7 last night i was burrowed under a blanket and answering Joy's every request with a yes. Tim found us in a semi-pathetic fashion when he came home. Lights off, Grease on, and me practically begging that he turn the TV off. I was so nauseous I didn't want to move. Urgh, back to bed, the light from my monitor is starting to hurt. I can function right now, but I just want to go back to my blessedly dark bedroom.  I have had friends who have those super terrible migraines. I don't want one! I hate that my body is continuing to turn against me. I wish someone had told me that a migraine felt like a hang-over, but without the fun of getting there. I think that is what makes it worse. I didn't do anything to cause

For the person who has everything ...

or is really environmentally conscious Your source for hand made paper stationary. The making of paper starts with the collection and processing of the dung pulp. Elephant dung is typically full of short to medium grained fibrous materials from the elephants diet which when processed makes excellent paper: • We collect naturally dried elephant dung from elephant conservation parks and bring it back to our paper-making factory. • We then pre-rinse the elephant dung with water, leaving only the fibrous materials from the grasses, bamboo & fruits they've eaten. • Afterwards, we place the fibers into a giant pot of boiling water to ensure the fibers are super clean. After this thorough cleaning, any color that we may want to add can be added. • Natural fibers from banana trees & pineapples are added to the dung mixture so the paper will be thicker & stronger. You can buy them here .

Spring has Sprung

Image
Let the allergies begin!!! Along with the beautiful spring like weather (which I am loving, no fear there) comes the scratchy throat, sneezes, and all other manner of feelings of un-wellbeing. All thanks to one of the most beautiful flowering trees you can find. Off to take Allegra (sitting + Benadryl = sleepy Annette) and hope that my throat finally starts to feel better. I'm starting to get one of those sexy raspy voices interrupted occasionally by a cough.

Pass It On

It's Monday again

Image
A friend posted this on my myspace a while ago. I totally concur this week. Mondays suck, even more so when you work in a call center and get to look forward to talking all day, with OT, for almost 11 hours. With pharyngitis , tonsilitis , but at least my ears aren't making me cry like a baby still. That's why I went to Urgent Care on Saturday (still not sure if that is worth blogging, I just wanted to die my ears hurt so bad). I'm going to call my doctor and ask to get my tonsils taken out. This is riduculous. I get strep once in my life, but this is somewhere between 23 and 25 times that I have had tonsilitis. A friend from HS called over the weekend and was surprised that I had a case of it AGAIN! (yeah, i got it that often in HS that it was memorable, go figure). More later, it's after 5 already. Ugh.

Literary Conversation

Home sick, Zoe sleeping, catching up on feeds .. this one from podiobooker (and oh yeah, I LOVE Podiobooks.com , some good stuff there, like Shadowmagic and Tracy Hickman's latest . Now while these fungi owners don’t have to worry about pesky things like maintaining an inventory, updating your database or any of the stuff that business have to deal with, some of the more enterprising ilk have taken to spamming Technorati, Del.icio.us, blogs, forums and the like. And this, happy campers, is where my weenie gets a little chapped. It’s been bad enough that I have to wade through their asinine posts designed to try and siphon as much Google juice as possible, flooding my aggregator with crap. I can handle that. Cost of doing business. But when they start showing up here and spamming my posts on my webite? Then I get a whole lot torqued. These sites add nothing to the conversation. It’s homogenizing the offerings available, and probably turning more than one person off who’s just disco

Stupid Man Week

Image
Today at work I declared it "Stupid Man Week" and passed out kisses to those of us who needed it. All of the women around me (except the one that is now engaged) have been having stupid men problems. One guy had everyone in one friend's family thinking he was about to propose, instead he dumps her and finds someone else to sleep with the same night. This friend is taking her hurt and anger out on everyone else. Not good, but we're working on it. Another lied to his wife (lie by omission) and then wonders why she got mad because his omission screwed up their monthly budget and put a huge strain on relations with extended family, and he fights dirty. And I won't go into mine. He wasn't stupid or hurtful this week, but I am still recovering from a blow a few weeks ago. And then there is the smart husband :) He used to be stupid when it came to treating his wife as a treasure, but she fills him in on our problems and in the last two weeks he's been a doll. A

picture errors

I think I figured it out. I removed all the redirects and hopefully the photos will show soon. My server automatically does hotlink protection :) Not a problem till I moved my blog. We shall see. If you are still having trouble viewing old photos, let me know. I don't have time to test it. Zoe is trying to open the door and I KNOW she hasn't gone poop yet.

Trader Joe's

... is finally open in Hillsboro! Woot!! I went on Saturday with the kids who for the first time in recent memory were GOOD on a shopping trip. I usually try to go by myself as often as possible. Now, being the frugal shopper that I am, I haven't shopped at TJ's for my family of 4. It get kinda spendy. But we picked up some Joe's O's, Joy gobbled down some organic peanut butter cereal, Zoe is not so big on the pig ears (she apparently prefers show leather), and Josh just went super happy because he remembers it as the first place I ever bought Hansen's. And their gummy vites are cheaper than the grocery store so I got generous and got the kids their own bottles. No fighting! yay! And even though we can get it at WinCo, he picked up a bumch for his lunches. And did I mention the salsa? Their demo was their salsa and chips. The only thing missing was the fruit cart outside selling perfect avocados *sigh* but .. avocados don't exactly grow well in the Pacific Nort

exhaustion

Image
I am soooooo tired. Came home and took Zoe for a 30-45 minute jaunt (it was good, got my blood pumping and we both needed a long drink of water). Then I had to pick up Josh (after I tweaked my blog a little) and then drop him off at his guitar lesson then get Joy, then go back to Watz Up Music for the rest of Josh's lessons. Note to self -- leave Joy at home as often as possible!! She wants to be so much like her brother ... turned on the waterworks (my oh my but she should get into acting) and begged, pleaded, cajoled, and promised to "respect the guitar" ... so she now has a Mahalo Uke Guitar (in electric blue). A good size, and I need to set up a free lesson to see if she has the attention span to take them. Can we say persistent? She's been wanting one since Josh got his for his birthday last year. I made sure she understood it was an early birthday present. She's all about the instant gratification. There was a smaller brown one that she wanted, but was
