De-locked

August 29, 2006
In 2 hours I have only gotten a small portion of my locks (as in dreadlocks) de-locked. I now know why some people just opt to cut them all off. Except that not all of my hair is locked and I am getting a new set of braids put in on Saturday. OI! My neck! Ok, back to it. (Yes, Tim, this is a hint that I will need a neck massage) ….

after the gym

Time to go to the doc. I nearly passed out 15 minutes into my workout. That was scary, and unnerving, and all manner of things. I called Tim on my way to get new hair and asked if I should see my doctor ... since well, I like to breathe and breathe easily :) So, later today I will call my doc and see if we can figure out what's going on with me.

*sigh* I was so healthy as a kid .... except for the bronchitis.

just a quickie

I really don't want to go to the gym today, but I have no reason to avoid my appointment. Quick, someone give me a reason. I really hate pain. I need to explain to my trainer that I am not a healthy woman in the 25-34 age range. I'm unhealthy, out of shape, and stress does weird things to my respiratory system. Not to mention the bad back, which is why I go to the gym, supposedly to strengthen it. Ok, food intake before I go. Appointment is at 11 and then I'm headed to Beaverton to buy hair.

out of my element

I need more Black Christian female friends.

Monkey Bars!!!!

August 27, 2006

Last night we went to a BBQ hosted by one of Tim's co-workers. They have a decent sized backyard and a playset. Joy watched one of the girls on it and then tried by herself. Tim said (loud enough for Joy hear) "Oh no she didn't!" and in such a tone that I had to double-check that a black lady wasn't standing next to me :) Joy heard and almost immediately dropped. But a few minutes later she made her way all the way across the monkey bars, all by herself, and for the first time! (and me without my camera)

Now I just know that she will want to try it at the park the next time we go. And those bars are a lot higher off the ground and spaced farther apart than the ones last night. Well, she has to heal from her blisters first, so it might be a while.

My birthday present from Tim finally arrived on Thursday. Yes, I am just now getting around to posting it. It's a necklace and bracelet set. White and pink cultured pearls and peridot chips on a silver chain. Shiny ...

and they're off!

I posted my postcards today. Parts (and people) unknown include Finland, Canada (Ontario), France, Russia, and the Netherlands. Let's see how long they take to get registered on the website. Hope my recipients can read my handwriting.

Off to troll my photos and see if I have more landscapes to print.

But i joined postcrossing and they have a flickr gallery, and WHEE!!!! yahoo I guess recently acquired Flickr because all I needed was my yahoo id to start a flickr account. So now I am testing it via the XP upload tool. and listening to Cats ... that's what I get for putting my entire playlist on shuffle ....

my acronym is bigger than yours

Paulo Magalhães - mental string weblog

- did you grep the cvs diff patch for the 7200 and the 3745’s sev4?

- yes, and for 1700’s too. now, the dns and tftp csc’s about ttl on vrf will make this pi ready for rpc and rcp/rsh pdu’s on all uut’s.

this is how (my) technical team meetings sounds like: as if someone was trying to start world war three by launching hundreds of acronyms over the table.

and poor of the guy who decides - god forbid - to expand one single acronym: he will have a whole room of raised eyebrows. like if he was speaking in some cryptic and incomprehensible language.

You gotta read this!!! There's more than the snippet I put here
What does your browser reveal about you?
Firefox vs IE

I often tend to judge people based on the type of browser they use. Believe it or not, the choice of your favorite browser reveals a lot about your personality.

IE 5.0:

You only use your computer for IM, email and Myspace. You stubbornly refuse to upgrade that ancient Win 98 box that you are using because you don’t need some fancy computer and in your opinion the one you have works just fine. You also probably don’t use antivirus or antispyware either. You just let your son/nephew/friend clean it out every month or so.

IE 6.0:

You probably don’t know what a “browser” is and you think Internet is IE. You have no clue about technology, and you are generally afraid of computers. You also use your machine only for IM, chat, email and myspace. Your friends keep telling you about that “Fried Fox” thingy but you don’t really understand this stuff and never really had time to look into it.

IE 7.0:

You consider yourself to be on the cutting edge of technology. You think that Microsoft is the greatest company on the earth, and that this evil “Lenoux” operating system is made by terrorists. You have a poster of Steve Ballmer on your wall, and you want to be like Bill Gates when you grow up. When you think about Vista you get goosebumps and shiver with excitement.

Firefox 1.x:

You are most likely a little bit geeky and proud of it. You are a strong supporter of the Open Source movement, and you think that RMS is “the man”. You really don’t care if FF is faster, or safer than IE - you would use it even if it performed 10 times worse. You are just happy that you have a free, open source browser with a huge community that is supporting it. At any given time you have installed at least 7 extensions that you couldn’t live without.

Firefox 2.0 Beta:

You are a developer by day and open source developer by night. Either that, or a huge Firefox fan. You are all over Bugzilla reporting all the issues you encounter with the browser. You have probably summited at least one patch to an open source project at some point in your life. You love to tinker with your applications, and you don’t mind running beta software on your machine. After all, it is fun to discover new bugs, and to work little kinks out of the new cutting edge programs.

I can't wait

Till next year. I wonder if I will ever get bored of this ... nah!!!! I'll just keep looking for trailers.

Jnxed was so right ... it's gotta be VENOM!!!! And I get to introduce Tim to it :)

After the doctor

So, the advice nurse got back to me and said "We need to see him right away. Has he had any trouble breathing?"  That's when I started to really worry. But he came out of his room, pulled a monkey face, and said (with his usual jocularity) that he felt fine, except for his "buttcheek" lips (and Hitch-like ear). So we dressed and skee-daddled to the doc, who said it could be a bug bite, but it could also be a *drumroll please* food allergy.

#1- food allergy - nuts. He's been eating a lot of peanut butter toast and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches lately.
#2 - shrimp and shellfish. My boy had TWO dinners last night. Chicken and dumplings at home and then shrimp kabobs at a friends house.

When I was pregnant with him, shrimp was one of the things that I couldn't eat. Every time I did, I got sick. I stopped after the second time. And for a long time after, any more than two pieces would make me sick. We have finally reached the point where I can cook and eat shrimp stir-fry, but I don't make it all that often cuz … good shrimp is spendy. So, Josh gets lots of Benadryl, if that doesn't help he has an Rx for Prednisone (sp?) but to use with caution and as a last resort.

If it's a bug bite, the doc suggested stripping his bed (done!). But I think we need to vacuum the thing. And maybe bleach it just to be sure.

On a side note: Josh has named his guitar "Theodore". Not Teddy, Theodore. And he can almost play a song on it.

{Annette}
Genius might be described as a supreme capacity for getting its possessors into trouble of all kinds.
- Samuel Butler

Let the trials begin!

So, this morning I woke up cranky and sore and thought about going to the chiropractor. Not to be. Josh woke up this morning looking like Will Smith in Hitch in the food allergy scene. Yesterday he also woke up with a swollen lip, but we thought it was a bug bite since he sleeps with his window open and no screen. This morning … that ain't no bug bite! His lip is AT LEAST 1/4" out from his face. Measure 1/4" inch. Now put that where your lip is. See? It's HUGE on the human face. Protruding from the human face rather.

I took pictures, just in case the Benadryl I gave him takes the swelling down, I want his doctor to see what he looked like. And I am SORELY tempted to post them, though Tim said just crop to his lip and not totally embarrass my boy (this ranks up there with the pictures of little kids butt naked that used to be cute and are now against the law) … Tim says he looks like one of those African tribesmen who pierce their lips and they get HUGE.

So last night we had Josh wash all his bedding (in case it was bugs who had decided to take up residence in his bed) and he opted to sleep on the floor. That's why we were ALL surprised at how swollen he is this morning. His lip and his ear. I'll get worried if his ear starts to look like cauliflower. He did actually vacuum his floor this past weekend. I'm a little bit worried, a little bit amused, and … a lot mom, I guess. I want him to be ok, I can deal with a food allergy (he's been eating at his friend's houses a LOT the last few days), I can deal with it being a bug bite (just so long as we don't have to fumigate the house, and God forbid it's something like a centipede -- which I did find one day in Joy's room) … I just want things to get back to normal -- wait, is this it? =)

Now just waiting on the advice nurse to call back so I can make an appointment.

New Blogger!!!!

August 21, 2006
W00T!!!!
I should read the Buzz more often. This was posted last week.
"Today we're launching a new version of Blogger in beta! You've been asking for ways to do more with your blog, and you can with this new release. With the beta you can:

* Categorize your posts with labels
* Control who can read your blog
* Change the appearance and content of your blog with your mouse instead of HTML

Take a look at the tour to see all the new things you can do (well, a lot of the new things ... they didn't all fit in the tour).

As we release this version, we're limiting the number of people who can switch over. (You'll see a link on your Blogger dashboard when you are able to move.) Eventually, of course, everyone will be able to transition their blogs to the new version. Thanks in advance for your patience as we roll it out.

If you can't wait, you can create a new account on the beta now and make a new blog to test out the new features. Because the new Blogger uses Google Accounts, you can use your existing Google login, or create a new one. (Later, you'll be able to merge your current and beta accounts, and have all your blogs in one place.)

We'll be posting more about the new version in the coming days, but for now, we really want to know what you think. You can post on the Blogger Help Group or via or feedback form."

Is this me??????????

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

Two Headed Snakes ...

August 17, 2006

Discovery Channel :: News - Animals :: Two-Headed Creatures Steal the Show
Aug. 17, 2006 — Officials of the World Aquarium at the St. Louis City Museum subscribe wholeheartedly to the maxim that two heads are better than one. If they're on the same animal, that is.

Aquarium officials hope an exhibit that opens next week and runs through Sept. 5 will prompt the creation of a Guinness World Record for the most two-headed animals on display.

So far, the aquarium has lined up 10 two-headed snakes and turtles, including "We," the aquarium's rare albino two-headed rat snake. The other nine animals are owned by Fred Lally of West Fork, Ark.

Better Sleep Through Chemistry

August 16, 2006
Well, I got about 11 hours of sleep. I think I needed it. Took some Tylenol PM and Tim said I zonked preatty much immediately. I was barely awake when he left. Josh tried waking me about 10:20, and I was finally able to open my eyes without them falling back closed around 11:15. Joy came in sometime after the sun (such as it is today) was up and cuddled with me. She stayed asleep till her tummy started rumbling, luckily, about 11 :)

Happy Birthday to me

August 15, 2006
Ok, this is my ego speaking :)   It's my birthday. I want to go into denial, but a good friend told me that I couldn't -- for the simple fact that even though she looks younger than me, she's about 8 or 9 years older and SHE hasn't gone into denial yet.

A year ago I thought I wanted a big bash, after yesterday, I just want to sleep. And go out to a pub with girlfriends to get smashed as if I were 21 again :)

So, I mentioned that the kids were fighting and I didn't want to deal with it, where's my breakfast in bed?!  Tim relayed the message and 20 minutes later Josh was knocking on my door with a cup of coffee :)  He returned moments later with pancaskes covered in Knott's Boysenberry syrup surrounded by apple slices. I do believe the boy is starting to work on presentation now that his culinary skills are good enough to get him through college :)

I don't think Tim took Joy shopping yesterday, but that's OK. Yesterday ... deserves it's own post, which I will get to after I finish my coffee and pancakes.

Off to Salem

August 14, 2006
Ok folks, send all prayers, good thoughts, good vibes. I'm off to Salem. As much for me as for my brother and sister-in-law. I have phone calls to make starting at 8AM. Court starts at 8:30 and I am praying that I don't get there late and can find the right courtroom.

Thanks to those who have been praying since this came up.

YES!!! I KNEW IT!!!

You Belong in San Diego

Laid back and friendly, you were meant to live most of your life on the beach.
You usually think everything is "all good"... except when the weather dips under 60F.
You stay classy - especially when you're in Tijuana!

Observation: Emotionally drained

August 11, 2006

Apparently, more and more often these days, when I get emotionally drained, I am liable to crash for hours at a time. Like this afternoon, I tried for a one hour nap, got in almost 2, and I am STILL tired. Though moving around, cleaning the living and dining areas before company tonight and mentally preparing dinner, and of course, blogging as it comes into my head :)

Ok, off to get that living room livable again. I don't like living in a pig sty, I just hate cleaning one up.

How Sad :(

"Fred accidentally got out of Moran's house on Thursday, wandered into traffic and was run over by a car.

The district attorney's office said that Fred had been 'preparing for a new career in education,' with a 'significant role' in a classroom program that teaches children how to care for animals."

Where are you?

So, I think I finally got the map working. If you scroll down under archives you can add yourself (please). Though I get the feeling there will be a large concentration of readers in OR.

tension

I'm stressing out!!!!! those of you on LJ might know why. Trying to clean my desk and watch Princess Bride in efforts to calm down. Waiting for a phone call. Getting no help from certain government officials. Knowing I shouldn't be stressing.

Called the maternal grandmother. Stressing more. She's .... ill-equipped to deal with my nephews, and she gave me even more bad news. Of course nothing about my brother -- she's only concerned about her daughter, but the news that she gave me concerns them both. I'll be making phone calls in the morning. Who wants to help me clean in the severe off chance that I have to go through a home visit? Won't know much till Monday.

Can I cry now? He's my baby brother, prone to bad decisions, my SIL apparently prone to even more -- and they have both just screwed up their lives and possibly the lives of their children. Though as my husband says ... my family doesn't do things by half-measures ...

Spaghetti

August 10, 2006
Today, my arms are like spaghetti. and thea is here.

How do you like your eggs?

Tim found this ...

A young guy wanders into a bar, looking for action. He notices an extremely attractive young woman sitting at the bar.

Enchanted, he decides to make his macho move (how he was bred), struts over to the young lady and orders a drink for her. After chatting for awhile, he slides his arm around her, with the intention of course of wanting to take her home for the night (the reproduction "urge to merge" has taken over and hormones go into hyper overdrive.)

The encounter is going smoothly and the climatic tone in the bar is highly festive. So the guy calms down, shifts to a lower gear and controls himself. While gazing intensely into her eyes he says indirectly, "So, babe how do you like your eggs prepared in the morning?"

Her wide-eyed reply back, knowing exactly what he had in mind and that her intentions were such to keep their social encounter on a friendly level says

"UNFERTILIZED, THANKS." and walks away.......

MySpace message leads to school plot pleas

August 9, 2006
Maybe they should change the minimum age of MySpacers to 21 ....

CNN.com - MySpace message leads to school plot pleas - Aug 9, 2006
The Riverton High School students had faced felony charges of incitement to riot and making a criminal threat, but the charges were reduced to misdemeanors on Monday. They were arrested April 20 -- the seventh anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado -- after a message about an alleged shooting plot appeared on the MySpace.com social networking Web site. Authorities said the message included a discussion of the location of video cameras in the school and how to disable them. Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Norman has said deputies investigating the threat in the tiny southeast Kansas town found guns, ammunition, knives and coded messages in the bedroom of one suspect. District Judge Robert Fleming told the youths that when he read the original charges, he found them frightening and disturbing. "Perhaps it wasn't as serious as it appeared a few months ago when it first surfaced," the judge said.

Skates! Finally!

Joy has been wanting skates since her 4th birthday, well, before. She has wanted skates since I started working in January, or maybe before then since I promised to get her skates ... finally got her some. She's easily upset that she hasn't picked up skating as fast as she picked up bike riding ...

Pain, pain go away

I really hate feeling old and arthritic. In my hips, my hands, etc, but today especially my hips and pelvis. The bones hurt. Heat therapy is wonderful. I did go to the chiropractor today, but I am not sure if it made me feel better or worse. I have another workout with a trainer tomorrow, my chiropractor said to make an appointment for Friday - urgh =) So much for my plans today. Right now I am sitting on a heat pad, just letting it soak into my bones. Wish it were big and flexible enough to cover my rump and low back. Ah well, 15 minutes per area I s'pose.

Today's goal: Tweak resume per insights of a friend, two bank mystery shops, and FINALLY stop in at with my revised resume and get started getting marketable and hireable. And for those of you who know I have been saying that for at least three weeks ... I have been applying online for a couple jobs posted on their site. I just think I have a better chance if I show up in person and the recruiters get to know my face and name rather than just my resume (with all it's inconsistencies).

Something smells good ... Josh is making beef jerky out of the leftover steak from last night's dinner. That kid can cook! (sometimes)

one more application

August 8, 2006
Resume tweaked and one more application submitted. Off to pick up Joy from daycare. Tim is off killing himself at the gym :)

Fear of rejection

It's August 8, 2006. It's been nearly a month since I was fired and I still don't know what to do with myself. I think I have been so lax about job-hunting because I hate the rejection -- the prospect of rejection. I hate applying, applying, applying, filling out applications, tweaking my resume, looking for a job, hoping someone will call. ...

I can't decide if I want an admin job (the pay is better) or to continue in childcare (it's easy for me and I generally enjoy it). I also find myself liking being at home, so long as Joy is at daycare :) *I* need her to be in school. But, enough of rest (and vegging in front of the idiot box). It's not really helping me since I tend to stress out about the fact that I *need* to work -- to help the family and I need to do something fulfilling for myself. I'm almost grown up (7 more days) and I still don't know what I want to do. I certainly am not where I thought I would be at this time of life. I am so ready to wallow in self-pity, while on the other hand, I know that I need to get off my butt and get a move on finding a job. If I stay at home I think I might go nuts. I hate cleaning all day, and honestly, other than tweaking my blog and watching TV, that's all I do.

workouts

Is a workout supposed to make you feel sick?  I just got home. Drove slowly. My legs are killing me (thanks to a personal trainer). My stomach wants to throw a revolt. I just want to lie down and go back to sleep. I thought exercise was supposed to energize you, not make you feel like a Mack just drove over you. I am WAY more out of shape than I thought I was. 'Tis depressing.

Swinging

August 7, 2006

I just had to get this shot of Joy pushing Tim on the swing. I joined them a little while later and Joy managed to push both of us.

"Can we go higher?"
Joy: "No, it's dangerous and you might fall out." That girl listens pretty well, but it's funny when she turns it on us.
Bump keying

Hrm, I wonder if this is popular in the States yet.

Ga. Peaches touted as future fuel source

August 4, 2006
You have to read this article :)
"TIFTON, Ga. - Part-time farmer Jimmy Griner hopes his ever-so-fragrant, crystal-clear, 180-proof moonshine can help solve the nation's energy problems." [snip]
Standing beside a large sedan powered by a blend of gasoline and his white lightning, Griner greeted the governor, unscrewed the lid and gave the governor a whiff.

"It's the real deal," Perdue said with a smile.

"I have a license to make it," said Griner, 70, a retired college physics professor who has a small farm in south Georgia's Berrien County.

"I'm going to tell the revenue department to leave you alone," Perdue said.

Happiness in a bottle

August 3, 2006
I was at Fred Meyer after my workout getting some dinner for me and Joy. And then I wandered over to the drinks, knowing I shouldn't get a soda, but not really wanting a juice or more water (I already had a bottle). I picked up a with juice -- then looked and saw a label. And a name. A name I haven't seen in U.S. stores in at least a decade, more like 15 years. CLEARLY CANADIAN!!! I LOVED this stuff as a teenager. It's carbonated, flavored water, and simply delicious. Freddie's only had two flavors, blackberry and strawberry. I wish they had raspberry or apple. I used to be practically addicted to the apple flavor. Tonight I am savoring the bubbliness of blackberry. Does anyone else remember these? I was kinda bummed because the bottle is not the cool shape that it used to be and the amount seems less -- 14 oz. as opposed to my memory of 16 or 20 oz. Though that might have been just because of the shape of the bottle. Yummy. I am happy.

Daddy Time

August 2, 2006

Joy got in some good Daddy time this afternoon at the park. She loves to swing, and Tim can get her pretty high. Higher than I can, and I thought I was getting her pretty high. My phone camera is not as agile as my digital, but I thought it was a cute photo op anyways. (and that's my 2 cents)

Glass ceiling

My hubby found this info to be ....disturbing? Incensing? Just totally WRONG? (especially when you compare the character of WNBA players with that of their male counterparts) I think he got it off this Wiki.

As of 2003, WNBA players who had up to 3 years experience were capped at $42,000.00. WNBA rookies earn $30,000.00. The max WNBA salary in 2004 was $90,000.00.
The minimum salary of an NBA ROOKIE - $385,277.00.
Blog that :)
An NBA ROOKIE(!!!) makes over 4 TIMES the highest paid WNBA player. That is wrong.
(Granted, NBA players are way overpaid, but still....)

Now this is cool
"How to create a LEGO mosaic

When my oldest son was born in 2001 LEGO offered a cool online 'Brick-o-lizer' that would take an uploaded photo and turn it into a five-tone grayscale grid of 1×1 bricks from which you could create a wall-hanging mosaic. LEGO would send you the exact right amount of bricks in bulk. Putting it together was as easy as paint-by-numbers. I did this for him and for his little brother in 2003."

and the morning ...

flys on. Woke up around 7:30, can't believe that I haven't done anything other than finish off my chocolate raspberry sticks and replied to blog comments. and chatted a little bit on GoogleTalk and gave Josh his chores. I think he's downstairs watching TV now. While I am supposed to be perusing RuneScape and deciding whether or not to get him a subscription.

On to the day!!!

Disappointment of the Day

August 1, 2006
This one has been on my mind since yesterday, and I wasn't quite sure how to phrase it. Bluntly, I think. I am really disappointed and confused by the leadership of this trip.

Well, I can't say that unequivocally, but the lack of communication has me miffed. And the reversal of position, if one indeed did take place has got my protective mama hackles up.

Josh really misses his biological dad. I can understand him wanting to take advantage of the fact that he was going to be in Southern California and have (theoretically) a break, a day of FUN. Last Friday he called me from Calvary Tijuana letting me know that they finally had a small break, he was ok if tired, looking forward to the festival on Saturday and excited to see his dad on Monday.

Hold up, wait a minute!

The day he left (July 22) Josh asked for his dad's number and I gave it to him after asking him what for and urging him, nay, telling him outright to clear it with the leader before he invited his dad anywhere. Josh said he would. On Friday's (July 28) phone call, he said that Mike was going to meet them at Knott's Berry Farm on Monday (July 31). I asked if he had cleared it he said that he did (must have since he was using the leader's cell phone to call both me and his dad, right?). Fast forward to Sunday (July 30). A VERY tired Josh calls me to let me know they are back in the States, he's ready to come home, is bringing Manzanita home, wants to do it again next year and that he wasn't going to see his dad because leadership had decided that his dad would take him away from the group (at this he sounded pretty beat. I wasn't sure if it was being tired or the emotions being kept in check).

HELLO!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Hrm, this is a missions trip, is it not? Why not MINISTER to the guy and INVITE him to stay with the group? WAIT!!! Why not TALK to him first and see what he plans to do? By the way, I called Mike to see if anyone had told him what was up (they hadn't) and he totally planned on hanging out with the group. He was actually looking forward to seeing Josh (bestill my heart, but there it is). I can understand some trepidation, but why not call me and get my ok and talk to Mike and let him know what the boundaries were if there were any qualms?

Though, now that I think about it, I wonder if Josh didn't call Mike in the hopes that he would show up any way ... darn me and my meddling self. But back to what caused the disappointment....

Josh had to end his call to me abruptly on Sunday night. Sounded like another call was coming in or the battery dying. I called back a few hours later to ask the leader if 1) Josh had discussed it with him prior to inviting his dad, 2) what did he say 3) would he consider changing his mind since Mike had already arranged to take the day off and was intending of staying with Josh's group and not infringing on anyone's authority (I had talked to Mike Sunday night, as far as he knew he was going to Knott's and just needed to know when and where to meet) .... I left two messages. I called the hostess the next day around 9:30 AM (thinking that everyone was wiped and since she lives near Knott's that they wouldn't leave around 8 or whatever, I guess I was wrong) , called the leader's cell again ... nothing. At that point I felt like people were ignoring my number as it appeared on caller ID. I just wanted the straight story. Did Josh ask permission or not? Did the leader give permission and then change his mind? Clear up the confusion PLEASE!!!!

But my boy comes home tonight. If I get a decent paying job, maybe we can go down for a few days over winter break.

Unpacking Africa (Charlie)
Hello again friends,

As the freshness of my recent Africa trip rubs off a little (sadly), certain things stand out in my mind. One thing I never blogged about was a meeting we had with a new friend in Nairobi. We met an American named Brad, who started an organization called the Persecution Project. Brad works in the Sudan, and lives in Nairobi with his wife and 4 or 5 children. He's just a guy that grew up really caring about Africa, and has decided to relocate his family temporarily, in order to serve those suffering in Sudan. We had JUST flown back to Kenya from 3 days in Rwanda, and the Genocide was on our minds. We actually bought these purple bracelets at the Genocide
Memorial that say: Genocide- Never Again! And Brad reminded us that, well, quite frankly, there is currently a genocide in Sudan, and it's been happening since the 1970's. Over 2 million people have died at the hands of rebels, and the situation is extremely bleak. There was a peace-treaty signed recently (you may have heard this in the news, and been relieved, like myself), but no one is abiding by it, and the killing goes on and on. I wear my purple bracelet slightly more sobered now, and it reminds me that it is happening again. Blood:Water Mission has funded two wells in Sudan (through Brad and Persecution Project) at a couple internally displaced persons camps (IDP camps). We are hoping to provide more wells in the Sudan region.

There is, of course, more, and it's not updated often, but it's there :)
