OK, sometimes it pays to buy namebrand. I have been taking the store-brand of Dayquil and Sudafed and they were doing NOTHING against this cold that I have had for more than a week. Last night, my wonderful, loving hubby went out and bought the good stuff. I took some about 2 hours ago and I can FINALLY think somewhat clearly and the snot is starting to slow down. Help your spouse or kid find a job? Raise money for a sick friend or relative? You can certainly get on the phone and call people, or send out a group email to all your friends and contacts. But most people, without the benefit of a social network, don't have the network power to make the kind of difference that can be made with a healthy group of online contacts.
